Iraqi Village of Hope lives up to its name
Master Sgt. John Hudson and members of the 557th Expeditionary Red Horse Squadron, headquartered at Balad Air Base, Iraq, pay out nearly $10,000 to 120 students March 13 at the Red Horse Village of Hope school in Hawr Rajab, Iraq. Similar to a technical school, Iraqi students are taught rebuilding skills such as masonry, electrical and plumbing. Hudson, an Air Force Reserve Command logistics technician who worked in an accounting department in the civilian sector for 11 years, oversaw the payday. (U.S. Air Force photo)

LUKE AIR FORCE BASE, Ariz. (AFPN) — An Air Force student pilot, 2nd Lt. David J. Mitchell, 26, from Amherst, Ohio, and assigned to the 62nd Fighter Squadron here, was killed March 14 when his F-16 Fighting Falcon aircraft crashed in a remote area three miles south of Alamo Lake, Ariz.
Mitchell was on a two-ship student air-to-air training mission in the Gladden Bagdad military operating area approximately 80 miles northwest of Phoenix. read more...
