Senior Airman Virginia Liranzo carries the POW/MIA wreath as 71st Flying Training Wing Commander Col. Chris Nowland and World War II POW Francis Hoad participate in the annual POW/MIA retreat ceremony Sept. 19 at Vance Air Force Base.

The day began early for members of Team Vance, before the sun was up, in fact, as they began the inaugural POW/MIA Recognition Day run.
The goal was for volunteers to run at least 71 miles in honor of POWs and MIAs, 71 for the 71st Flying Training Wing.
