Capts. Josh Dean and Ryan Wilmes, a pair of First Assignment Instructor Pilots at Vance Air Force Base, spend much of their time in the air.
But when they aren’t in the cockpit, they can be found playing a decidedly ground-bound sport, rugby.
Both were members of the Air Force rugby team that won the 2008 Armed Forces Rugby Championship last month at Fort Benning, Ga.
The Air Force didn’t just win the event, but dominated, beating the Army 44-3, the Marine Corps 76-0, the Navy 26-5 and the Coast Guard 66-3. read more...
In rugby there are 15 players on a side. A team is divided into eight forwards and seven backs. The forwards try to gain control of the ball and form a line of defense between the backs and the opposing team. read more...
