Base’s economic impact on community grows
Team Vance’s impact on Enid and Garfield County has been considerable, ever since the base first opened in the early 1940s.
Military personnel assigned to Vance Air Force Base contribute to the community in any number of ways that are sometimes difficult to quantify.
But a number can be put on Vance’s economic impact upon the community — and it is a big number.
Vance pumped $242.3 million into Enid’s economy in fiscal year 2008, an increase of some $18 million from the previous year.
“I am excited about it,” said Mike Cooper, military liaison for the city of Enid and a member of Oklahoma Strategic Military Planning Commission. read more...
