Surviving the Holocaust
Holocaust survivor Jack Mandelbaum recounts the day he was liberated from a Nazi concentration camp during World War II. Mandelbaum spoke Tuesday at Vance Air Force Base about his experiences in labor and concentration camps run by the Nazis. Hope kept Jack Mandelbaum alive during the dark days of World War II.
A Holocaust survivor, Mandelbaum spoke Tuesday at Vance Air Force Base about his experiences in labor and concentration camps run by the Nazis.
It was the first time in 25 years of speaking about the Holocaust that Mandelbaum did so at a military base.
He recalled the day his family was rounded up by the Nazis in his hometown of Gydnia, Poland.
“June 11, 1942, the Nazis surrounded the Jewish section and put the people, almost 900, they put them in the square and marched them to a local brewery,” he said. read more...
