The association between Enid and Vance Air Force Base has been close ever since ground was broken in 1941 for construction of the base.
But Enid has never had an ambassador to military families, until now.
Teresa Vance was recently appointed to the post by the Enid City Commission.

Run into summer More than 50 Team Vance runners begin the Run to Summer 5K race May 6 on base. In the men’s category, 2nd Lt. Kelly Ennen, 71st Operations Support Squadron, took first place by finishing in 19 minutes, 9 seconds. 1st Lt. Matt Gjertsen, 32nd Flying Training Squadron, took second place at 19:39. Placing third was Capt. Nathan Rice, 8th Flying Training Squadron, at 20:20. In the women’s category, Capt. Shawnee Williams, 71st Medical Group, took first place with a time of 23:51. Tough going Vance Air Force Base’s Safety Day Expo May 22 had a booth that displayed the effects of alcohol on vision and coordination. Lt. Col. Daniel Fischer, from the 5th Flying Training Squadron, is aboard the tricycle, swerving to avoid hitting more cones in the obstacle course while wearing “beer goggles” used to impair vision, simulating alcohol consumption.
