The Vance AFB Volunteer Income Tax Assistance program begins operations Tuesday, offering free federal and state income tax preparation for Team Vance members.
The free tax service is available for active-duty military, Department of Defense civilians, reserve and National Guard members, retirees and family members.
Customers, at a minimum, should bring the following to their VITA appointment: 2008 tax return; Social Security cards for the member, spouse, and all family members; military I.D.; all W-2s, 1099Rs, 1099Misc, 1099Int, and 1099Div; education expenses; child care expenses; student loan interest; individual retirement account contributions and any other relevant documents.
In addition, customers also should bring their bank routing and account numbers for the automatic deposit of refunds or payments of taxes due. read more...
WASHINGTON — Servicemembers and overseas voters shouldn’t assume they automatically will receive ballots for the 2010 elections just because they have in the past.
