Marine Capt. James Brown, an instructor pilot with 33rd Flying Training Squadron at Vance Air Force Base, was selected for the Marine Corps African-American History Month Recognition Award for 2010.
He was selected for the award for his service with Marine Medium Helicopter Squadron 365, 24th Marine Expeditionary Unit, Marine Corps AS New River, N.C., and Marine Aviation Training Support Group 22 at Vance from February 2008 to the present.
Among Brown’s accomplishments, the award nomination package cites combat sorties he flew in a CH-46E Sea Knight helicopter in support of operations in Helmand Province, Afghanistan.
