Difficult times come to all of us at one time or another.

Safe landing

Safe landing
Myron Waldrep comes in for a landing on a T-38 simulator ride under the watchful eyes of instructor Ron Hazlett of Lear Siegler, George Andrus, Marlan Verdine and Senior Airman Brandon Cloud, 71st Logistics Readiness Squadron. Mr. Verdine and his wife Jan were visiting Enid for the birth of their grandson Austin Cloud (son of their daughter Ashley and Airman Cloud) when Hurricane Rita struck their home in Orange, Texas. Mrs. Verdine’s son and his wife, Myron and Carrisa Waldrip joined the family in Enid after evacuating from Lake Charles, La., with grandparents George and Maxine Andrus, bringing four generations together at the Cloud home on Vance Air Force Base. “On behalf of the Verdine, Andrus and Waldrep family, I would like to thank the people of Vance for welcoming us with open arms,” Mr Verdine said. “We feel the staff of the Family Support Center has gone above and beyond the call of duty to accomodate and assist us, as have the Enid Salvation Army and Red Cross. It’s the accomodating support from communities like this that have made being away from home under these circumstances a little easier.” Photo by Frank McIntyre
