"To the Stars," an indie movie shot last year in and around Enid, is making its Oklahoma debut at the second annual Circle Cinema Film Festival in Tulsa on Saturday, July 13.

After filming wrapped up, "To the Stars" made its world premiere at the Sundance Film Festival. Several months later, the movie will show for the first time in Oklahoma, for Tulsa's own up-and-coming film fest.

The 1960s Oklahoma-set drama centers on the "powerful friendship forged between a shy farmer's daughter and the reckless new girl in town," an Oklahoma Film and Music Office news release said.

Many of the film's stars will be in attendance for a Q&A session moderated by the OF+MO, the release said, including Kara Hayward (“Moonrise Kingdom”), Liana Liberato (“The Best of Me”), two-time Emmy Award-winner Tony Hale (HBO’s “Veep”), Malin Akerman (“Watchmen”) and Shea Whigham (“Take Shelter”), among others.

“Circle Cinema has been a pillar of Tulsa’s independent film community as well the entire state, and we are incredibly proud to sponsor the festival this year,” OF+MO Director Tava Maloy Sofsky said. “It’s incredibly special to have a festival recognize Oklahoma film and filmmakers throughout the entirety of its programming, and we’re so proud to recognize the work of these artists at the festival.”

The festival runs from July 11-15, featuring films and visual works from many different Oklahoma artists, such as the world premier of a new documentary, "Terlton," by Native American filmmaker Sterlin Harjo.

Tulsa-based Steelehouse productions will be showcasing a new virtual reality experience, "Hanson 360," which will "allow audiences to step into the private recording studio as rock trio Hanson craft a not-yet-released new song."

Dozens of other movies, documentaries, presentations, parties and events are scheduled. For a full list of showings and activities and to purchase festival tickets, go to circlecinema.org.
