Casey’s General Store, 206 N. Oakwood, is joining more than 2,000 Casey’s locations in 16 states in raising funds for the nonprofit Hope For The Warriors.
Hope For The Warriors is a nationwide, Virginia-based nonprofit that provides assistance to combat wounded service members, their families and families of those killed in action.
Hope For The Warriors was founded by military families at Marine Corps Base Camp Lejeune, N.C., in 2006, “as they witnessed, firsthand, the effects war imparts on service members and their families,” according to the group’s website.
“Hope For The Warriors has remained grounded in family values as the organization expands both the span of programs offered and the number of wounded, family members, and families of the fallen assisted,” according to the website.
Through Nov. 15, Casey’s General Store is asking customers to support Hope For The Warriors by rounding-up their purchases “to support military families and veterans,” according to a press release.
In eight years, Casey’s General Stores has raised more than $4 million benefiting Hope For The Warriors’ programs that focus on clinical health and wellness, sports and recreation, and transition services, according to the press release.
Since its inception, Hope For The Warriors has served more than 23,200 people through a variety of support programs focused on clinical health and wellness, sports and recreation and transition. One of the nonprofit’s first programs, Military Spouse and Caregiver Scholarships, has awarded more than 135 scholarships to caregivers and families of the fallen.
